Laura R. Mauldin is an associate in the Tampa law firm of Lieser Skaff Alexander. She practices complex commercial litigation.

After receiving her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, Ms. Mauldin clerked for the Honorable Virginia M. Hernandez Covington, United Stated District Court, Middle District of Florida. As a Law Clerk Fellow, she researched and analyzed an array of complex legal issues in the areas of contract law, labor and employment, and product liability.

During her tenure in law school, Ms. Mauldin served as President of the University of Virginia chapter of Phi Alpha Delta, the preeminent law fraternity whose alumni includes six former U.S. presidents and five current U.S. Supreme Court justices. She was also Chief Executive Editor of the Virginia Environmental Law Journal, where she ran one of the University’s oldest law journals, overseeing the publication of cutting-edge environmental jurisprudence.

In addition, Ms. Mauldin served as a Research Assistant to the late Professor Jeffrey O’Connell—the renowned legal scholar who helped create the model for “no fault” auto insurance to protect traffic accident victims, reduce auto insurance rates, and curb frivolous litigation. Ms. Mauldin also interned with the University of Virginia’s employment law clinic through the Legal Aid Justice Center, where she represented clients before the Virginia Employment Commission.

Before entering law school, Ms. Mauldin attended Flagler College where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and political science. Upon graduation, Ms. Mauldin was given Senior Recognition Awards for Academic Achievement by both the English and liberal studies departments.

Ms. Mauldin is a member of the Florida State Bar, the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers, and the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers. She is an active volunteer for the Bay Area Legal Services and engages in charitable activities with her church.
